Languages, Systems and Applications:
  • I have spent most of my professional career programming rich internet applications in ColdFusion, HTML and Javascript.
  • I have strong experience in database design as all of my experience in application development has involved a database in the back end.  This includes everything from installing and tuning SQL Server and Access to designing the database in BCNF and writing efficient SQL to manipulate the data.
  • I spent 3 years developing applications in ASP.net.  using Object Oriented architecture.  This also included writing plugins for an existing framework.
  • I have been in several roles throughout my career that required the installations of Windows and Linux servers.  I maintained and tuned these servers to meet the usage demands.
  • With the exception of my last four years, I designed the graphic interfaces for applications in tools like Photoshop and Gimp.  These served as the graphic interface for the applications that I was writing.
  • I have general networking experience including a Cisco networking certification.
  • I have worked in a variety of environments from being an army of one to working on a team of up to 10.  Most recently I have been working on a team utilizing the Agile methodology, specifically SCRUM.

Senior Web Developer, March 2006 – August 2010

  • Helped develop a large scale job promotion engine from the ground up in ColdFusion backed by SQL Server. This application serves as a career site for BestBuy, Microsoft, and Target to name a few.
  • Developed a program for this application that is responsible for sending out 1 to 2 million emails per night, using technologies like Apache ActiveMQ, Apache Solr and Coldfusion.
  • Developed applications in Flex/ActionScript that facilitated admin for this system.

University of North Dakota, NDGRO – Grand Forks, ND
System Architect, October 2002 to March 2006

  • Created a web portal in ColdFusion to capture research data from user activity
  • Later migrated to DotNetNuke where I developed DNN modules to add further functionality to the various portals we created.
  • Maintained the development and production environments consisting of Windows and Linux servers.
  • Managed a team of two other developers.
  • Presented papers at two international technology conferences in Quito, Ecuador and Wuhan, China.
